About ExtraCare

At our ExtraCare retirement villages and smaller retirement schemes, there’s something for everyone.

Our inspirational locations offer vibrant communities for over 55’s that support a healthy, active and independent lifestyle in later years. Since 1988, ExtraCare has been the UK’s leading not-for-profit pioneer for retirement living, opening 20 locations around our Midlands base and further South.

As a charity our surpluses are re-invested into charitable activities – helping us provide better services and support.

We focus on three things; developing new homes, operating villages and schemes, and supporting our locations through fundraising, advocacy, and research.

Featuring excellent facilities and a range of activities ExtraCare locations seek to foster independence and help people to stay active in both body and mind.

Independent research proves the positive impacts of our model which empowers residents to lead happier, healthier, and more independent lives.

Trust overview

The ExtraCare Charitable Trust is a registered charity established in 1988.

We are supported by the Executive Leadership Team and a Non Executive Board of Trustees.

Our vision is better lives for older people and our mission is creating sustainable communities that provide:

  • Homes older people want
  • Lifestyles they can enjoy, and
  • Care if it’s needed.

To deliver our vision and mission we do three things: develop new retirement villages, operate villages and schemes, and support our locations and our ‘extra-care’ model through fundraising, advocacy and research.

Our charity is supported by funding from: Residents; Local and central government; Charitable donations; 36 ExtraCare charity shops and Lloyds Bank & BAE Pensions.
