On Grandparents Day, here are 4 ways to spend quality time with your grandparents
Spending quality time with your grandparents is a great way to keep them healthy and happy, whether you live near or far from them, finding ways to connect is important. Here are four of our favourite ways to spend quality time with your grandparents:
1. Visits
Our ExtraCare locations welcome all guests. With beautiful Café Bistros, libraries, communal spaces, gyms, even beauty salons there’s plenty of places to sit and enjoy quality time with your grandparent. Whatever you like to do together. If you live near your grandparents, take the opportunity to visit them at home and see how their day-to-day life is going. It is a great way to catch up on the latest news from around the villages.
2. Go out for dinner
Going out for dinner is one of the easiest ways to bond with your grandparents over something other than talking about work or school stressors (which we all know can be stressful). Who doesn’t love a home cooked meal? So how about treating your grandparent and cooking for them at their ExtraCare apartment or enjoying a tasty meal at one of our Café Bistros.
3. Go for a walk
The fresh air will do wonders for both of you, and you’ll be able to catch up on all of the things that have happened since your last visit! Staying healthy is a crucial component in retirement, so get both your heartbeats up by adding a walk into your time together, maybe start by walking to the shop instead of driving and picking up shopping together. Our ExtraCare villages also have several great spaces to take a walk to, be it a roof terrace, landscaped gardens, greenhouses or other terraced areas.
4. Create a memory box together
Making a memory box with your grandparents is a great way to spend more time together. This is a wonderful opportunity to build something you can add to throughout time, whether you use photos or family items. It will allow you to learn more about your grandparent and vice versa. Together you can build family history and learn about your heritage. It is crucial to take your time because these are moments you’ll want to remember in the future.
From everyone at ExtraCare we wish you all Happy Grandparents Day!
