ExtraCare is pleased to announce that Mick Laverty has been appointed as Chief Executive.
Mick, currently Chief Executive at the Student Loans Company and previously Chief Executive at Advantage West Midlands, will begin in January 2016.
He said: “I am excited to be joining a charity that is leading the way in housing with care for older people. I am looking forward to working with residents and colleagues, showing how ExtraCare’s facilities and services allow people to enjoy better health and a great lifestyle in their later years.”
Chair of the The ExtraCare Charitable Trust, Martin Shreeve, said: “I am delighted to welcome someone with Mick’s considerable experience to ExtraCare.
“We are impressed by his passion for the welfare of older people and his enthusiasm for our model of housing with care; our sector faces significant challenges in the coming years and Mick is ideally placed to steer our Charity successfully through this period of change.”
ExtraCare announced in March that Nick Abbey, Chief Executive since 2010, would step down in September.
Development and Sales Director Mark Curran will be Acting Chief Executive until January 2016. Mark joined ExtraCare in 2004 and has successfully led the Charity’s development programme which is currently opening a 212 apartment retirement village in Bournville this autumn, with Bournville Village Trust and Birmingham City Council.
Six more ExtraCare Villages are under construction or in development in Coventry, Birmingham, High Wycombe, Stoke Gifford, Bedford and Solihull.
