Work has now started on site at the 260-home ExtraCare Hughenden Gardens Retirement Village in High Wycombe, due to open to residents in Summer 2018!
Anyone who is interested in finding out more about the Village is invited to an information day at on Saturday 2nd April between 10am and 4pm at Old Town Hall, Wycombe Swan, St Mary Street, High Wycombe, HP11 2XE. The Village team will be holding presentations throughout the day.
Hughenden Gardens Village is being built on a five-acre site on Hughenden Road, just to the north of High Wycombe town centre. It will be home to more than 350 local people over 55, and will offer an active lifestyle with a host of social and leisure events each week.
Apartments at the Village will be available for purchase, shared ownership and rental, and care will be available on site for residents who are assessed as needing support to live independently.
The Village will offer a range of communal facilities including a village hall, bar and bistro, gym, IT suite, hair and beauty salon and shop that can be accessed by residents, their families and the local High Wycombe community.
Nadia Ainsworth is hoping to move to Hughenden Gardens Village. She says: “I have lived locally for the last 40 years. In fact, I live in the Hughenden Park area of High Wycombe which is within walking distance to the village site. My daughter and grandchildren live nearby, and my friends are in High Wycombe.
“I am involved with the local community – a member of local U3A, I also run a social club which I hope to continue to do so if I move to Hughenden Gardens Village.
“Being a retired teacher, I can offer classes of Russian language or a Russian Cultural Club or Russian Literature and history classes. Working as a volunteer at the reception for example can be fun too.
“I’m looking forward to a new life at the Hughenden Gardens Village!”
