Meet the Team: Ange Carpenter

Want to know a little more about our ExtraCare team? We start with our Executive Director for Governance and Compliance Ange Carpenter. Here Ange tells us about her role, what she enjoys, and the time she found herself jumping from a plane to support the Charity!

How long have you been working for the Charity?

I’ve been at ExtraCare for 11 years now, in five different roles!

What drew you to ExtraCare and your current position?

I wanted to move into the Charity sector from the NHS. As soon as I visited a Village for my interview, I knew ExtraCare was special.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

No two days are ever the same. It is a role where I can make a difference and I have the privilege of working with great people.

What are some of the biggest accomplishments you’ve achieved in your role?

Crickey…my roles have been so varied it’s hard to think what to say! Probably jumping out of a plane (with a parachute!) to raise money for ExtraCare…I was terrified but given that one of our residents jumped out before me I couldn’t then wimp out!

How do our company values align with your own personal values?

I am values-driven and could not work somewhere that wasn’t aligned with my values.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give your younger self?

Stop giving yourself a hard time because you see things differently to other people. It isn’t a weakness – it can be a superpower!

What is your favourite song?

I can’t pick one – depends on my mood! Could be songs from anyone, from Depeche Mode, to Fleetwood Mac, to Chipsum Gravy!

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

The ability to stop time so that I could do more, or alternatively, just get some sleep!

What’s your favourite quote or motto?

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results.

What’s your favourite thing to do to relax and unwind?

Yoga or Call of Duty (I know, quite a juxtaposition), but it works for me!

What three words would you use to describe ExtraCare?

Authentic. Caring. Charity
