Solihull Retirement Village supports Emergency Responders and NHS workers with free drinks
Solihull Retirement Village is offering free hot and cold soft drinks to dedicated emergency worker professionals and NHS workers.
The free drinks are to express gratitude and support for the tireless efforts of emergency responders and NHS workers who selflessly serve their communities and to welcome more community heroes to the village. The village located in Shirley is open seven days a week with no booking required, opening between 9.30am and 5.30pm.
Solihull Village’s Lifestyle Manager, Diane Rooney comments: “We know the value of saying thank you to those who go above and beyond to keep us safe in our hours of need. As a charity we know a thing or two about the importance of community and looking out for one another and we hope to provide a small but meaningful token of appreciation to those who dedicate their lives to safeguarding others.”
Supporting NHS workers and the wider community remains at the forefront for ExtraCare, the charity who operate the village. A 2019 published study conducted with Aston University and Lancaster University found that residents living in ExtraCare retirement villages showed a reduction in their dependence on GP and hospital services, leading to a 38% reduction in NHS costs per year.
One of those benefitting and visiting the village for a hot drink was Nurse Laura Standing from a local hospital trust. She commented: “It has been a lovely treat picking up a nice cup of free coffee after a long shift and taking a moment to unwind. Solihull Village has a beautiful bistro, and this is a very thoughtful and welcome idea. Thank you!”
To benefit from the offer of free refreshments, NHS workers will need to show a valid ID, and emergency responders will need to be on shift and in uniform.
