ExtraCare gets Platinum Jubilee ready across the country!
ExtraCare residents and staff across all locations are bringing their own unique spirit and preparing to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this weekend. Here is how some of our locations are celebrating.
Hughenden Gardens began the celebratory atmosphere with flags and banners adorning their village entrance featuring a mini plane for a decorative fly by. A local school will also be assisting the village with a colouring competition with pictures displayed for all to see.
Across multiple locations tree planting ceremonies took place to support The Queen’s Green Canopy planting initiative. At Bournville Gardens Village and Solihull Village the Mayors of both Birmingham and Solihull attended respectively to help residents plant the trees. Gary over at Humber Court was nominated by his fellow residents for all he does for his neighbours to be their representative to plant the tree.
In Evesham Yates Court residents took up their knitting needles to create beautiful, knitted crowns in honour of their jubilee party.
At locations street parties will be taking place. Rosewood Court will be entertaining residents at a Big Jubilee Lunch street party and at Sutton Coldfield’s New Oscott Village attendees will be treated to a live viewing of the Jubilee Concert alongside their party and a tree planting by oldest resident Dorothy Price, 102. Further North in Sheffield Brunswick Gardens will be hosting a Service of Thanksgiving for the Queens reign with hot drinks and biscuits and a street party of their own.

Midland Heart transfer update
In April 2015, ExtraCare made the announcement that Midland Heart (MH) had given us notice that they intended to take back 14 locations that they own, meaning that the services in those schemes and villages will in future be managed by MH rather than ExtraCare. These transfers are set to take place between August 2017 and August 2018.
