ExtraCare has welcomed Mick Laverty to his new role as chief executive.
Mick will lead the Charity’s ambitious £314 million development programme which will see the construction of 1,534 mixed-tenure apartments within retirement villages in Coventry (2016), Longbridge, Birmingham (2017), High Wycombe (2018), Stoke Gifford (2018), Bedford (2019) and Solihull (2019).
Mick said: “I’m impressed by ExtraCare’s clear vision to create better lives for older people, providing inspirational homes, award-winning care services and encouraging an active lifestyle.
“I am delighted to join the Charity as it drives forward an exciting development programme that will meet the aspirations of many more older people seeking to enjoy later life in one of its villages.”
Mick was previously chief executive of the Student Loans Company, a government-funded ‘digital exemplar’ organisation that has seven million customers and distributes £15 billion per annum. He was also formerly chief executive of Advantage West Midlands, the regional development agency for the West Midlands.
Mick is a chartered accountant and has also held a number of non executive director roles in the public, private and charity sectors and is currently non executive director of Birmingham’s Hippodrome Theatre.
