Longbridge Village in Birmingham Awarded for Build Quality
ExtraCare’s latest retirement village at Longbridge in Birmingham has been awarded Best High Volume New Housing Development at the Celebrating Construction Awards.
Hosted by building control company Acivico, who ExtraCare have worked closely with to ensure our villages meet the latest in building regulations, the annual awards recognise excellence in the construction world.
Hardev Thandy, Head of Construction Development says: ‘We’re very proud of Longbridge Village and feel that this award recognises the hard work put in by ExtraCare and our partners at Galliford Try Partnerships.’
Steve Davis, Development Manager for Longbridge, who collected the award, says:
ExtraCare are very proud to accept this award from Acivico, whom we have worked with for a number of years, in conjunction with our contractor. It shows the high standards that we work to and an excellent team effort by all parties.

The ExtraCare Charitable Trust is a registered charity based in Coventry since 1988. Our vision is better lives for older people and our mission is creating sustainable communities that provide homes older people want, lifestyles they can enjoy and care if it’s needed. To deliver our vision and mission we essentially do three things:

- We operate villages and schemes
- We support our villages, schemes and our ‘extra-care’ model through fundraising, advocacy and research
Each village or scheme has 5 to 18 social, health and leisure facilities that are accessible to our residents, volunteers and local people representing all age groups living in surrounding communities. Our Charity Shops help fund care and well-being services for older people living at our each of our locations.
