ExtraCare takes time to remember this week

Created by Dying Matters, #iRemember Week, which takes place all this week (Monday 26th to Sunday 1st November) encourages people to share the memories of those who have died using the hashtag #iRemember.

Our residents have told us that one of the big losses during the coronavirus pandemic is that they feel they have been unable to grieve collectively in their community and support each other, or attend funerals/memorials, when fellow residents or family and friends have died.

It’s important for our mental, physical and emotional wellbeing to acknowledge this loss – for our residents and staff – so, alongside Cruse Bereavement, we are encouring all our locations to host activities during this week to help remember those who have died.

Acknowledging grief in this way can help support someone to have a healthy and healing grieving process, reducing the need for specialist help and support.

So far, our villages and schemes have planned memory trees, photo walls, candle services, and minute silences – we’ll be sharing all of this on our social media channels.
