ExtraCare partner with West Midlands Fire Service
The new partnership means ExtraCare is now affiliated with the largest fire service in the UK outside of London, and have a single point of authority on all fire safety matters.
The Primary Authority Scheme provides its members with an extra layer of assurance by removing ambiguity, providing clarity relating to conflicting advice and by providing a single point of contact. The PAS is further designed to reduce the regulatory burden on businesses and to promote consistent, effective inspection and enforcement processes.
Aran Duggan, Head of Property and Environment at ExtraCare comments; “This partnership offers ExtraCare the highest level of technical expertise in relation to fire safety. It will allow us to collaborate with West Midlands Fire Service on fire strategy, processes for risk assessments and new developments.”
The partnership involves West Midlands Fire Service inspecting locations, reviewing Fire Risk Assessments and policies, providing support, advice or training and providing regulatory advice. The PAS recommended by the Government aligns ExtraCare with other sector leading housing providers in relation to fire safety and best practice.
Kevan Brelsford, Fire Engineer at WMFS added: “West Midlands Fire Service’s primary aim is to make communities stronger, safer and healthier. WMFS shares ExtraCare’s vision of people being able to live independently for longer, in their own homes and looks forward to supporting ExtraCare’s fire safety management to help people to both feel safe and be safe. By working in partnership, ExtraCare can assist WMFS in freeing up resources, which allows better direction of staff, who are ready, willing and able to address a wide range of challenges within our communities.”
