Village Activity Facilitator

Title: Village Activity Facilitator/Activity Co-ordinator

Location: Retirement Villages/Schemes

Responsible to: Village Manager/Scheme Manager

This is a summary of the job description

Overall Aim of the Job:

To ensure an activity plan, which is interesting to all residents, ensuring that 75% of the Village/ Scheme population are engaged.  To ensure a vibrant, active community, which is supported by volunteers, both internal and external.

Key Responsibilities:

• To ensure all service users have a needs and risk assessment, a housing related support plan and that regular reviews take place. To work with outside agencies and other professional bodies in the course of housing related support planning and residents achieving positive outcomes

• To encourage /support residents to lead their own interest groups / activity sessions

• To  work  with  all  interest  groups  to  organise  expenditure  of  individual budgets

• To  line  manage  the  Fitness  Instructor  and  support  them  to  generate resident membership

• Encourage  promotion  of  holistic  and  engaging  activity  challenges  to provide a comprehensive active programme

• To ensure in budgetary terms the gym is maintaining a healthy financial balance sufficient to cover staff and other related costs

• To line manage the Bar Hosts and ensure there is a comprehensive plan of evening activities and league games i.e. darts, dominoes, skittles etc. To ensure in budgetary terms the bar is breaking even

• To  involve  other  key  members  of  staff  to  promote  "One  Big  Team" approach.  (Captains, Well-Being Advisor, Chefs and Catering staff, Fitness Instructor, Bar Hosts)

• To line manage the Village centre Resident Support Workers (Village Centre Runners) and ensure all residents receive escorts to attend activities, entertainment, appointments and facilities, as and when required

• Work  with  the  catering  team  to  organise  monthly  themed  evenings, ensuring events are marketed appropriately and encouraging maximum attendance

• Market ExtraCare Traditions, Mission Impossible and Olympics 2012 to ensure all residents have the opportunity and are encouraged to participate

• Ensure notice boards are organised, well presented and using corporate branded paperwork detail daily and weekly activities or themes and all forthcoming traditions

• Produce and distribute activity programme to all residents ensuring the programme is appealing and updated fortnightly and monthly
