Lorraine Murphy

Lorraine Murphy - Management Accountant

How long have your worked for ExtraCare?

I have worked for ExtraCare for just over 15 years. I started as the Finance Assistant and worked through various roles within the team until my current role as Management Accountant.

What does your role involve you doing on a day to day basis?

In my present role I am based in Head Office. I support the operational finance manager in providing accurate and timely month end information, ensuring realistic budgets and forecasts are set for all sites, ensuring financial controls are in place and monitored, and ensuring financial aspects of contracts are managed and achieved with all partners of the charity.

What development have you had?

I completed a basic bookkeeping course when I first started, and have completed all other in-house training relevant to my role.

What is your most memorable moment of your career to date?

Attending Calvert Trust when I first started, and again when St Crispin Village opened. The Calvert Trust is an outward bound centre in Devon where we take a group of residents and we do a wide range of activities including horse riding, abseiling and canoeing.

Describe our residents in one word.

Memorable.

Why do you work for us?

Enjoy the day to day variety of my job, but also seeing the impact that ExtraCare has on our residents' lives. The fact our customers live with us means that we build up relationships with them that you wouldn't get to enjoy in other finance roles.
