After a regular series of rehearsals and lots of effort, residents of ExtraCare’s Terryspring Court in Redditch have recorded their first CD.
Guided by community music experts POP UK, Scheme Manager Zoe Hopkins and Activity Co-ordinator Charlotte Taylor, the CD includes songs such as ‘A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square' and 'You Are My Sunshine' plus a medley of hits by groups including The Beatles and Status Quo.
Lots of residents and families attended a concert where the Scheme’s choir sang and £850 was raised by the sale of the CDs to families and local companies, whose names were written on them, at £25 each to cover the cost of the recording and to boost activity funds. The companies were thanked for their sponsorship.
"It was a fantastic night and it was obvious everyone enjoyed themselves," says Charlotte.
Zoe reports that the singers attended two hour rehearsals a day during a week to prepare for the recordings. "They spent a lot of time and effort putting it together," she says.
