Beryl Sadler will be 89 when she moves to her new apartment at Yates Court in Evesham. She already visits the Scheme twice a month, and says she loves the atmosphere.
“I can’t wait to get in here!” she says. “I’ve been on my own for 12 years. When I heard about Yates Court, I just said to myself, I’ve had enough of this and put in for a place.
“There’s company here. Lots of my old friends live here, people I’ve known for a long time. Where I am now, it’s nice but sometimes I don’t see a soul, because everyone is at work in the day. I have a daughter and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, but they have their own lives as well.
Beryl has had several falls at home in recent years and now only uses the downstairs part of her house. “I broke my hip,” she says. “I can get around walking when I’m on one level, but I have a step down into my kitchen and that worries me.” She loves cooking and is looking forward to getting into her new kitchen.
“There’s so much to do here. There’s everything in the building – you wouldn’t need to go out if you don’t want to. I can come downstairs and be around people, but go upstairs and close my door and have my own space if I need to.
“It’s come just at the right time for me.”
